Artist Statement and CV

My art practice derives from current events, combined with historical reference, a love of nature and concern for social justice. My early career as a political cartoonist and then editorial illustrator connected me to stories that shape our society. I interpreted news events, book reviews and cultural stories, developing visual narratives for regional and national publications. As a creative director for 30+ years, composition, visual hierarchy, form and color were an integral part of my work. These past experiences provide me with a variety of through-lines to my painting practice today.
